Vermont Farm Tours will be offering a variety of cheese tours and cheesemaking workshops on Saturday, July 24—the day before the Vermont Cheesemakers Festival. Please pre-register as space is limited.

Cheese Tours are $95 per person and last the full day. Each tour visits three to four artisan cheesemakers and includes lunch, transportation, and more.

Cheese Workshops are $50 per person and last 2-3 hours. All workshops are taught on-farm.

Addision County Cheese Tour

The Addison county tour features three farmstead cheesemakers: family farms producing small batches of cheese with milk from their own animals.  Beautiful farms, happy animals, and talented cheesemakers make this as enjoyable for your eyes as it is for your taste buds. Explore Dancing Cow Farm (cow’s milk) Twig Farm (goat’s milk), and Crawford Family Farm (cow’s milk).  The tour includes transportation, a local picnic lunch, discussion with the cheesemakers, all tasting and entrance fees, tour notes, and a canvas Vermont Farm Tours bag to fill with cheese…

Visit three vineyards showcasing a variety of estate-grown and bottled wines.  Explore new varietals (like Frontenac and Marquette) and learn the magic (and finesse) behind cold-climate winemaking.  We’ll pair a local cheese with a wine from each vineyard and learn the basics of tasting and pairing wine and cheese.  The tour includes transportation, a local picnic lunch on the Vineyard, wine tasting, cheese pairing, all tasting and entrance fees, tour notes, and a canvas Vermont Farm Tours bag to fill with wine and cheese…

Join Lindsay Harris for a fun introduction to cheesemaking at her raw milk micro dairy in Hinesburg, VT.  Explore simple techniques for making mozzarella and ricotta while learning about the wonders (and politics) of raw milk.  You will have the opportunity to transform milk into cheese in only a couple hours—this is definitely something you can repeat in your home kitchen!

Family Cow Farmstand milks five grass-fed Jersey and Guernsey cows and sells 100% of their milk directly to the local community. Come see happy cows and taste the freshest milk imaginable! Raw milk, honey, and beeswax candles will be for sale at the farm.

Workshop includes mozzarella and ricotta demonstration, all materials, and tour of the farm.  Leave with cheese to share with friends at the festival!

Explore the wonderful world of goats and goat cheese with Troy Peabody, chef and cheesemaker at Trevin Farms Bed & Breakfast.  Troy will personally introduce you to the goats, give you a tour of the farm, and teach you how to make chèvre during a hands-on cheese class in the B&B kitchen.

Trevin Farms is a small bed and breakfast on a working farm.  When you stay with innkeepers Troy and Kevin, look forward to fresh veggies from the garden, cheese made from their goat’s milk, and a horse-drawn carriage ride along scenic dirt roads. Trevin Farms would make an excellent place to stay for the Cheesemakers Festival.

Workshop includes a hands-on chèvre class, all materials, and tour of the farm.  Leave with cheese to share with friends at the festival!

Visit the dynamic and growing Windy Corners Farm and enjoy a workshop with Julia Martin, Windy Corners cheesemaker.  Julia will guide you through the process of making goat’s milk feta in a small-yet-efficient cheese room, and provide an overview of Windy Corners’s sustainable homestead model during a farm tour.

Windy Corners Farm is home to pigs, chickens, sheep, goats, cows, and bees—all of which live happy lives with lots of fresh air and love. The farm’s mission is to be a self-sufficient model of sustainable agriculture and act as a community resource for homestead education.

Workshop includes a hands-on cheese class, all materials, and tour of the farm.  Leave with cheese to share with friends at the festival!
